Behind the scenes of a sitter photoshoot

Please read on as I have created a little behind the scenes guide on what to expect from my sitter photoshoots at Laughing Image Corner Photography to help answer all your questions!

Sitter Photoshoots

Everybody loves a newborn photoshoot with adorable sleepy poses. However your baby is constantly developing and growing & a baby photoshoot is all about capturing your babies first milestones.

 Since their newborn stage you have watched and encouraged every little accomplishment, from your babies first smile (that could have been wind?) to their first roll over. Now they are sitting, giggling and wiggling at you with bundles of cuteness & personality! 

So you would love a sitter session – what happens next?

Once you are all booked in we will arrange suitable time. I aim to arrange the session just after a nap and feed so baby is happy and ready for play time! On arrival at the studio you can choose an outfit or two from my special sitter wardrobe or if you prefer you can bring something along for your baby to wear. Once baby is looking pretty we will start shooting – there will be lots of fun as we capture those cute little giggles! We can pause at any point for snacks, changes or cuddles if baby needs to. If you have chosen an artwork package you will also have the option to choose your frame from a selection of samples whilst at the studio.

How old does my baby need to be for a sitter session?

Every baby is different and will develop and hit their milestones at different ages. I usually say between 6 and 9 months and I always recommend that your baby is sitting confidently and steadily by themselves.

Can siblings be include?

Of course! If you would like a sibling photo included then we will start the session by capturing your children together. Once the sibling photos are achieved I advise that the older siblings are taken for some fun whilst we continue the shoot and can concentrate on your baby’s portraits. 

What should my baby wear?

My style of photography is quite simple and pure, I have a sitter wardrobe designed to perfectly compliment your baby and create beautiful images that you are welcome to use. If you have selected one of my artwork packages then I like to let parents bring the outfit of their choice. These look great with a little colour in them but I recommend plain or lightly patterned pastel dresses/outfits rather than bright and bold colours.

Do I need to bring anything?

Your usual well stocked baby bag will do the trick along with milk, some snacks and a favourite toy. The studio is stocked with lots of beautiful props that we can use but if you have a special keepsake etc that you would like incorporated into the session I would be happy to accommodate any requests.

How long is a sitter session?

Depending on the package a sibling session is between 45 – 60 minutes.

Anything else I need to know?

Yep be prepared for some laughs, giggles and general silliness – and not just from the babies
